Issue 3 – Mar 2015

Hope you had a nice Christmas and New Year break.

The good news is that we have a new name; EMF Solutions and a brand new web site, emfsolutions.co.uk.  The website is in its infancy, but if you have any comments, then please let us know.  In terms of promoting the subject, we are exploring ways of engaging with the local media and press.

The Newsletter will continue as usual and this edition includes the preliminary survey results (see point 1) – thanks to all who responded.  In order to make improvements, we need more completed surveys – please take ~5 minutes to complete the survey if you haven’t done so already.  Some of you suggested more information on living near phone masts and mechanisms of harm from EMFs, which will be covered in points 2 and 3 below.

More good news: The French Parliament passed a new Law, addressing electromagnetic fields and electromagnetic hypersensitivity.  Also, the Taiwanese government has followed suit.

Finally, we highly recommend Resonance Beings of Frequency by James Russell – perhaps the best film on this subject – see point 4.

(1) Survey Results
From the initial response, some of the highlights are:

1.1 All respondents were at least “somewhat” satisfied and found the links in the Newsletter to be useful
1.2 They considered the content and length (although slightly shorter would be preferred) to be about right
1.3 Most (83%) did not have an EMF meter and (80%) thought a home survey would be a good idea
1.4 Further suggested topics, include; Information on living near masts, mechanisms of harm from EMFs, more research data, Laws in other countries and face-to-face meetings

(2) Living near Phone Masts (Cancer Clusters!)
Some of you live near mobile phone masts and have rightly expressed some concerns.  The media is regularly reporting on phone mast issues and here is a recent news article.  To find mobile phone masts near you, just type in your post code here.  For those who have a particular interest, we can introduce you to Eileen Conner whose health has been affected by a nearby mast. There are numerous articles – here is a small selection:

2.1 Symptoms related to GSM radiation from mobile phone base stations (2013)
2.2 How does long term exposure to base stations and mobile phones affect human hormone profiles? (2011)
2.3 Consequences of Chronic Microwave RF Exposure
2.4 Symptoms and radiation from mobile basis stations in Germany (2010)
2.5 Epidemiological evidence for a health risk from mobile phone base stations (2010)
2.6 Environmental Epidemiological Study of Cancer Incidence in Austria (2008)
2.7 The Influence of Being Physically Near to a Cell Phone Transmission Mast on the Incidence of Cancer (2004)

(3) Mechanisms of Harm from EMFs…
We all may have noticed getting prolonged periods of flu-like symptoms and wondered why.  It appears that EMFs reduce the body’s natural melatonin production, which is a potent antioxidant and a strong anti-cancer agent.  Note, that sleeping in lit rooms or reading from tablets in bed also has a similar effect, e.g. avoid night lights and other sources of light in your bedroom.

There are also other mechanisms linked to emfs; including increased permeability of blood-brain and blood-gut barrier – could the 300% increase in Crohn’s disease be actually linked to emfs?  Loss of calcium in cells and increased cortisol (stress hormone) levels in Saliva.  Reproduction effects are covered here.  Dr Andrew Goldsworthy, a retired lecturer from Imperial College has spent years studying various biological effects of EMFs.

recent article demonstrates that exposure to 900MHz EMF radiation for 28 days significantly impairs spatial memory and causes blood-brain barrier damage in rats.  Whilst, provocation studies in this article demonstrate that the response to EMFs is physical and not psychosomatic.

(4) Videos
Resonance Beings of Frequency (2012) by James Russell is probably the best film documentary on this subject and even though it is almost 1.5 hours long, we highly recommend it.  There is also a good section on how EMFs affect melatonin levels and the harmful effects from mobile masts.

We will cover other suggested topics in future Newsletters, in particular, perhaps some thoughts towards arranging a face-to-face meeting.  We also look forward to receiving more completed surveys – we will shortly e-mail them out again.  Also, any other suggestions or feedback on the website or Newsletter would be greatly appreciated.

Finally, please visit our EMF Solutions website for more info. or contact us on info@emfsolutions.co.uk

Best regards,

EMF Solutions Team.
